My name is Jason Allan, and I have been in the retail pool and spa business my entire life. As a company, we have never been afraid to spend the money necessary to market our business effectively. However, in 2017 we realized it was time to change our method of advertising. We began exploring digital marketing and decided to dive in head first.  This decision has changed our company forever.

 

We were able to grow total revenue from $3,669,800 in 2015 to $7,776,489 in 2017. Year to date in 2022, we have had sales of $14,560,153! That's why in 2019, I founded Omni Digital Marketing to help other companies grow their business with the knowledge I have gained in digital marketing over the past 5 years.

Questions to ask yourself about your business.

1) What has worked in the past?

- In the last 5 years, what has worked to get customers in your door?

- In the last 5 years, what has NOT worked to get customers in your door? Why?

- What systems do you have in place that are working well?

- Are there new systems that need to be implemented?

- What are your top 3 follow-up techniques that are working to close deals?

- What are the top 3 things that have contributed to your success?

- What other things does your business need to improve on?

This above list is nowhere near complete, but it is a good place to start.

2) Trim the fat!

- Who are your most valued employees?

- Which employees are underperforming?

- Who needs to be replaced?

- Are there positions in your company that can be eliminated or consolidated?

- What expenses can be eliminated that are NOT contributing to increasing revenue?

- Can you negotiate more (rent, vendors, etc.)?

3) How can you obtain more customers at NO COST?

- Are your employees posting for FREE on Facebook Marketplace, Craigs List, Offered Up, and others?

- Are post-sales driving extra revenue? (Cleaning contracts, extended warranties, weekly service) What more can I sell?

- Are you following up on old leads via email, text, social media, and snail mail?

- Are you placing yard signs in the front yards of delivered customers' homes?

- Are you asking for referrals?

91% of sold customers say they would give you a referral if asked. The problem is only 11% of salespeople actually ask!

4) Have a solid marketing plan to maximize results!

- Do NOT eliminate all advertising. There will always be customers for your products, but they can not buy from you if they do not know you exist. 

- Only use advertising that maximizes your ROI.

- Keep promotions fresh with offers that show value to the consumer.

- Everyday should be the customer's lucky day to purchase your product.

- Lean into digital marketing that allows targeted promotions to maximize ROI and find your ideal customer!

5) Be ready to adapt.

- Prepare yourself and your team to make changes quickly when the need arises.

- Get uncomfortable. Tough times require people to be comfortable being uncomfortable.

- Opportunities present themselves in tough times. Always be watching for the next big thing.

6) Have the best team in place!

- Always be looking for great people to add to your staff!

- Don't be afraid to fire people. New people have been difficult to find the past 2 years, but this is starting to change.

- Find creative ways to retain the best players on your team.

- Look for ways you can prepare your staff for uncertain times ahead.

- Train your people daily. Salespeople who receive continuous training produce an average of 50% higher total sales.
